The high frequency of repairs needed for crash attenuators is an indication of the need for additional warning devices. For the first time, highway authorities can send an automatic up-to-the-minute CB radio message - advising trucks of upcoming delays and conditions at construction sites or accidents. With the trucks alerted, the likelihood of a serious accident or of a secondary accident is greatly reduced. The Wizard Work Zone Alert and Information Radio automatically broadcasts an alert message over any selected CB channel - usually 19 for truckers. The message can be set to repeat at appropriate intervals. Sophisticated computer circuitry permits a non-intrusive break in....won't stomp on transmissions! |

The compact unit was developed in cooperation with PennDOT,
who worked
closely with the designers during the prototype period. It is being deployed
in
several locations throughout Pennsylvania, and other transportation departments
have completed successful evaluations and are in the process of implementation.
